Every painting comes in six sizes, all in the same proportions, so a single piece or a full gallery wall stays in balance. Measurements are the canvas size in inches (width × height). Frames add a little around the edge.
| Size (in) | Size (cm) | Where it works well |
|---|---|---|
| 12 × 16 | 30 × 41 | Shelves, narrow walls and gallery groupings |
| 18 × 24 | 46 × 61 | Above a nightstand, a desk or a small console |
| 24 × 32 (most popular) | 61 × 81 | Above a console, a dresser or a bed, or as part of a gallery wall |
| 30 × 40 | 76 × 102 | Above a sofa, a sideboard or a king bed |
| 36 × 48 | 91 × 122 | A statement piece over a large sofa or in a dining room |
| 40 × 60 | 102 × 152 | Large walls, high ceilings and entryways |
Choosing a size
- Above furniture: art that is about two-thirds the width of the piece below it tends to look right.
- Height: hang the center of the painting about 57 to 60 inches from the floor, or 8 to 10 inches above a sofa or sideboard.
- Gallery walls: paintings of the same size, hung 2 to 3 inches apart, read as one composition.
- Still unsure? Each product page has a size chart that draws every size to scale above a sideboard.
